What is an energy leak?
Basically it’s the time you spend thinking about doing something and rather than doing it. For example you have a squeaky door and every time you use that door you think “I must spray some WD40 on this door’, you use the door 10 times a day so that’s approximately 1 minute a day you spend thinking about it and 7 minutes per week. Now say you have 3 or 4 other things just like that squeaky door – the tax return that needs doing, the phone call you need to return or the dying plant you need to get rid of and all of a sudden you’ve spent around 30 minutes a week thinking about doing stuff rather than just doing them and moving on! When you look at from this perspective you see what a time waster procrastination is and you understand how it’s holding you back from doing the bigger things you’re destined for.
3 Actionable steps to get you going
1. List 5 things you’ve been procrastinating about and rank their importance from 1 -5 (with 1 being the most important)
2. Now identify two from the list above that are the easiest to achieve. By committing and actioning the two easiest from the list you will start building some momentum and feel what it’s like to claim that lost energy back into your life
- Write what you will commit to doing and by when
3.Once the above two actions are completed continue with you remaining three items and again write what you will commit to doing and when.
